Although millions of people have fallen in love with Fifty Shades of Grey’s brooding protagonist Christian Grey, there’s one woman who definitely hasn’t. Irish actor Jamie Dornan, who plays the tortured billionaire, revealed that his wife Amelia Warner hasn’t seen any of the franchise’s films.

While promoting the final film in the franchise Fifty Shades Freed, he was interviewed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about how Amelia felt about his character. He said, ‘I guess I like to think she’s more in love with me than that guy. She hasn’t seen the pictures or anything.’

His answer was met with shock by the studio audience and Ellen, who surprisedly asked him why.

He responded, ‘I don’t want to pay for a ticket for her.’

Jamie and Amelia, who also works as an actress and singer, have been married since 2013 and are parents to two young daughters - Dulcie and Elva. Sometimes however Christian Grey crosses over into Jamie’s real life, which he explains can make things awkward - especially when he’s with his family.

He explained, ‘I get a lot of fans talking to me as if I am Mr Grey...There’ll be like a line at Starbucks when I’m getting my coffee and someone will be like, ‘Oh, Mr Grey.’ And I’m literally holding one of my children and they’re so confused why they’re calling me that.’

Some fans take it a little further, making direct references to the Red Room and iconic sexual scenes that tend to put Jamie on the spot. He said, ‘I just panic. I don’t know how to respond to it because i’m not him. So, I’m always sort of there kind of panicking so they probably think I’m weird (which I’m fine with).’

Fifty Shades Freed will be released in the UK on February 9 and is the final instalment of the Fifty Shades of Grey series. Jamie will be reprising his role alongside Dakota Johnson, Kim Basinger, Tyler Hoechlin and Rita Ora.
