SJP works the Carrie Brawshaw style we know and love - albeit a toned-down version
Sarah Jessica Parker had girls everywhere breathe a nostalgic sigh when she brought a little Carrie Bradshaw retro chic to the red carpet at the weekend.
The actress dipped into her Sex and The City wardrobe back catalogue when she stepped out for the opening night of hubby Matthew Broderick’s new play, The Philanthropist.
Working an altogether toned-down version of the signature Carrie couture we know and love, SJP chose an ivory prom-style frock, peep-toe, embellished heels and the obligatory rose pink corsage.
However, gone was the flouncy, full skirt and the fabulous oversized floral adornment of old, replaced by a simple hip-enhancing shape and a far more delicate flower pin.
Perhaps it was a sign of our favourite fading character hanging up her Manolos for good, but surely the arrival of the Sex and the City movie sequel will prompt a Carrie style injection and ‘the bigger, the better’ motto of old will be back. Here’s hoping!
