This year's CFDA Awards nominations have been announced with Alexander Wang and design duo Proenza Schouler leading the way with two nods each.
The New York-based designers will fight it out in the Womenswear Designer of the Year and Accessory Designer of the Year categories but face stiff competition from Marc Jacobs and Phillip Lim respectively. At last year's awards, Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez lost out to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's luxury label The Row for the womenswear prize.
Wang's nomination tops off another triumphant year, with the continuing success of his eponymous label and his appointment at the helm of fashion house Balenciaga.

Other notable names to make the nominations list include Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, who has been honoured with the International Award, design legend Oscar de la Renta, the recipient of the Founders Award, and Vera Wang, best known for her bridalwear, who will be presented with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement prize.
The list also features three awards sponsored by Swarovski for emerging designers – womenswear, menswear and accessories – where recipients will receive financial support for their budding fashion businesses. Past winners of these categories include Joseph Altuzarra, Phillip Lim and Tabitha Simmons.
