The year-round jet-setter needs a hardworking mix of resort-ready prints and all-weather staples to keep up with her on her regular far flung travels. As the new installment of her Solid & Striped swimwear line drops into stores, she tells us about her holiday style heroes and why she loved working in an office for a change…
‘I'm going to Cartagena over New Year with my husband and friends, which will be magical. So far I haven’t planned lots of other holidays for 2015 yet, apart from Burning Man in August. The desert's calling me for that one.’
‘The best holiday I went on as a kid was to Disney World. I wore the same Minnie Mouse dress for 5 days straight and refused to go on any rides apart from It's A Small World. I think my parents wanted to kill me.‘
‘Now I keep my resort wardrobe easy and stylish. I always pack lots of loose linen shirts and denim cut offs, Converse, vintage Reformation sun dresses, gold jewellery and statement shades. Plus a trunk full of swimwear, of course.’
‘Cara’s holiday style is definitely more tomboy than mine. She'll be body surfing in the waves, while I concentrate on my freckle making.’
‘My Solid & Striped resort mood boards were full of pictures from Miami Vice, Alabama Worley, True Romance and Saved By the Bell as well as palm trees, piña coladas and flamingos aplenty.’
‘The whole working in an office thing was a dream for me – I never get to do it! I'm secretly very organised and obsessed with stationary, especially staplers and post-its, which I know is a little weird.’
‘All of my friends have picked different suits, which is a wonderful feeling because no one has been left behind. So many of them came to the line’s launch party too - Alexa, Harley, Joan, Karen, Jess to name a few. We feasted on cheeseburgers, chips and cocktails (my favourite was Poppy's Perky Poison) at The Happiest Hour in New York. It was the perfect location - they even have flamingo wallpaper.’
