And we can see why to be honest

Remember how we told you that Kate Middleton and Princess Diana both loved the same Superega trainers? Well it turns out a love of the same shoes doesn’t just run in the Royal family, it runs in the US Presidential family too. Or ex-Presidential if we’re being specific.

Michelle Obama just posted a picture of herself on Instagram visiting College Students. In it, she’s wearing grey jeans, a matching cardigan and some low-top grey Converse sneakers. Casual but chic, as per the former First Lady's usual style.

And it turns out her daughter Malia is also a fan, regularly wearing the same trainers, albeit usually the high top version in a different colour, though she tends to wear them more with denim dresses and checked shirts.

We’re not really sure who started wearing the trainers first, but given they’ve been around for decades, we’d venture a guess that it was Michelle.

Either way, we can understand why they love them so much, because there's no going wrong with the classic Converse. You can grab your own online or give our Black Friday trainer deals page a look, they might just make an appearance.

You can style it up with a floral dress or down with a chambray shirt and jeans for a effortless weekend look. We're all about that versatility.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
