Exclusive: American supermodel and face of Zalando’s new SS15 campaign, Arizona Muse reveals exclusively to Marie Claire how she gets ready for her day.
Who knew the 26-year-old mum and top model – who’s worked with fashion heavyweights including Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent – uses body wash as shampoo? And her five-year old son was her wake-up call? Arizona spills to us her morning rituals: from cuddles with her little boy to her day and night beauty rules… Where’s home for you? ‘London right now, it really is my favourite city in the world. It’s so pretty – especially walking around Notting Hill, there’s a lovely little Greek restaurant called Mazi around there. But at the moment, I’m in the process of moving to NYC, I just looked for a school there for my son, while looking for a town house in Brooklyn.’
What's the first thing you do when you wake up? ‘My five-year-old son, Nikko, will usually come into my bed and wake me up, asking me “Can we get up now?” And we’ll snuggle in bed – it’s the best thing to wake up to.’ What sets you up for the day? ‘Listening to music makes me feel like I'm ready for anything. Also, if I'm surrounded by my friends.’
How fast are you at getting ready in the morning? ‘Since being a mother, I’m better at making decisions, as I have to get my little boy ready too. It takes me longer to get dressed than to do my hair and make-up. I’m definitely not a morning person – I would stay in bed longer if I could.’
Your morning beauty ritual? ‘I start with my skin first – usually with a light foundation or concealer. I like brown eye pencils and I use a small brush to blend – pencil without mascara is a better look for me."
And what if you’re getting ready for a night out? ‘I'll wash my hair if I'm going out. Recently I used body wash as I was out of shampoo, and it actually looked really good! And of course lots of sleep.’
Top fashion tip? ‘You should always feel comfortable – your clothes will look better on you.’
