Actress Carey Mulligan's Prada Met Ball dress has been sold to the highest bidder on eBay
The shimmering Prada gown that Carey Mulligan wore to this year’s Met Ball has been sold on eBay for a not-eye-watering-at-all £1,860.
The gold and silver halter neck number with scale-like paillettes, which Carey Mulligan wore to co-chair the 2012 Costume Institute Gala in New York earlier this month, was put up onto the auction site two weeks ago with a starting price of £310 to help raise money for charity.
The custom-made piece was eventually sold for £1,860 when the auction closed with a total of 35 bidders fighting it out to own the stylish number.
Granted, it is still a lot of money, but for a bespoke Prada gown that will go down in fashion history, it’s an absolute steal in our eyes. We only wish we’d placed a bid!
All proceeds from the sale will go to Oxfam America, which helps find solutions to poverty and injustice around the world.
