Anna Sui hits the high street with Gossip Girl inspired collection

Blair Waldorf on a budget? Gossip Girl fans will know that the show's resident queen B is all about the labels, but thanks to Anna Sui, her high-end look will be hitting the high street, naturally, with a designer edge.

Sui has signed up to create a capsule collection for US high street bargain emporium, Target, as part of its Designer Collaboration series. She follows Alexander McQueen, who was the scheme's first collaborator.

Putting a new spin on the designer-does-high-street concept, the series sees fashionistas draw inspiration from a specific muse or partner. Sui picked the fashionable female characters at the heart of the NY based drama - Serena, Blair, Jenny and Vanessa.

Sui explained to WWD, 'When I was in Asia last year, all the young girls kept asking me about the different locations in New York City where the characters from Gossip Girl live.

'I liked the idea of creating a collection reflective of each characters' style, sensibility and unique approach to fashion. By combining the elements of art, city, spirit, punk and glamour, we created a collection that exudes New York City fashion.'

Target has an impressive history of teaming up with top designers. Previous collaborations have included Anya Hindmarch, Luella Bartley and Proenza Schouler.

The collection will hit US stores and TARGET.COM on 13 September.
