The final eight got their glad rags on and hit Leicester Square for the star studded premiere
Forget Jim Carrey, Colin Firth and Peter Andre. When Leicester Square was transformed into a winter wonderland for the premiere of Disney’s A Christmas Carol, the only people that the crowds wanted to see were this year’s X Factor contestants…
The excitable troupe arrived to a red carpet covered in a dusting of snow, surrounded by huge Christmas trees, groups of carol singers in Victorian era costumes, A-list stars and screaming fans.
Unsurprisingly it was the twins John and Edward who lead the way, bounding down the carpet in their matching grey suits and towering blonde quiffs, delighting at the fantastic reception.
While Simon’s boys Olly Murs, Danyl Johnson and Jamie Archer were confidently working the crowd and signing autographs, Lucie Jones and Stacey Solomon upped the glam factor for the group in their pretty dresses, and youngest contestants Lloyd Daniels and Joe McElderry just looked adorably overwhelmed by the entire situation.
The grand premiere also coincided with the switching on of the Christmas lights at Oxford Street, Regent’s street and St Paul’s Cathedral for which Jim Carrey, Colin Firth and Bob Hoskins did the respective honours.
All three Hollywood actors star in the spectacular 3D re-make of A Christmas Carol, which opens in cinemas on Friday.
But as if all that wasn’t enough entertainment for one night… There were also festive musical performances at each light-up location from The Saturdays, Little Boots, Peter Andre, Spandau Ballet, Andrea Boccelli and The Noisettes. Phew!
