Gary Barlow will be making this series of The X Factor his last, as DJ Chris Evans confirmed the star will be leaving his judging seat once the current series ends.

Speaking about the ITV1 talent show on his BBC Radio 2 slot, the presenter revealed how Gary shared his plans to quit the programme after the Christmas final.

'Apparently Gary Barlow is feeling the pressure ahead of the live show,' Chris told his listeners, adding ‘by the way, this will be Gary’s last year on The X Factor… because he told me last week'.

With his latest solo album Since I Saw You Last flying off the shelves and a monster tour on the horizon, it looks like Gary will be ploughing efforts back into his music career.

Rumours first surfaced the Take That frontman was calling time on his mentoring role when The X Factor host Dermot O'Leary hinted at Gary's departure at the premiere of One Direction's new documentary, This Is Us.

He said: 'If Simon [Cowell] comes back, the dynamic would be very different.

'Gary wouldn't be there – he'll be leaving at the end of this year.'

And now the 42-year-old's close friend Chris has opened up about Mr Barlow's career plans, it looks like we're losing our ITV eye candy for good. Sob.
