The latest rumour from the ITV camp suggests that Kylie Minogue might provide some maternity cover for her sister during the next series
Since Dannii announced her pregnancy at the beginning of the year, rumours have been flying over whether she’ll return to take up her position as judge and mentor.
And it looks as though an agreement has finally been made.
Dannii is reportedly going to be missing the audition rounds, when she will be giving birth in Australia – but returning in time for the live shows alongside Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell.
‘Dannii will definitely be back and has not been axed,’ an ITV spokesperson said yesterday.
‘There has been a lot of speculation, but we want her back. She really blossomed last year.’
Bosses have now lined up a series of possible stand-ins to sit in Dannii’s seat during the audition rounds, including sister Kylie – who has previously made guest appearances on the show.
It is widely suspected that Simon will follow the rotating celebrity guest format seen on American Idol, which saw the likes of Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry and Mary.J.Blige take up seats on the audition panel.
