A Twilight fan has been fatally hit by a car at Comic-Con

A Twilight fan has been killed in a fatal car accident whilst camping outside Comic-Con in the hope of seeing Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest of the movie's cast.

A woman, known only as G, was knocked down by a car trying to cross the road outside the convention centre in San Diego, where the annual event is held.

Police confirmed that there was an incident on Harbor Drive at 9.20am on Tuesday (July 10) and stated that a 53-year-old woman in town for the convention tried to run across the street, but fell in front of an oncoming Subaru.

A statement from Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate read: 'Lionsgate, Summit and the entire Twilight community are saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year's convention in San Diego.

'Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family and friends. She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday (July 12) in Hall H.'

The cast of Twilight, including Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, are due to attend Comic-Con this Thursday to hold a panel discussion and premiere new footage from Breaking Dawn Part 2.
