Clue: it's the girl on fire

She’s done it again – Jennifer Lawrence is now officially the highest paid actress for the second year in a row, according to Forbes magazine’s ranking.

J-Law raked in an eye-watering $46 million (approximately £35million) this year – a sum primarily made up of her salary from the box office blockbuster Mockingjay Part 2. The Hunger Games actress is also said to have received a massive upfront signing fee for her upcoming big-budget sci-fi film Passengers with Chris Pratt.

Despite topping the list, Jennifer actually was down $6 million on her previous year's earnings of $52 million in 2015, but hey, we wouldn’t complain.

Having topped the Forbes list in 2015, Jen also came in second place in the rankings in 2014, putting her in a top two position for the last three years. And what makes this achievement even more impressive is that, at just 26 years old, she’s the youngest actor on Forbes’s list.

Behind Jen was Melissa McCarthy, who earned a whopping $33 million after reportedly bagging an eight figure paycheck for her role in the latest all-female Ghostbusters reboot. The 46-year-old actress recently launched her own clothing line, Seven7, which undoubtedly boosted her earnings.

Meanwhile, coming in at number three was Scarlett Johansson, who managed to secure a $17.5 million deal this year to star in an adaptation of Japanese manga film Ghost in the Shell. Nice work if you can get it.

There were a few notable names missing from Forbes’s list, however. 2016 saw Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Kristen Stewart and Reese Witherspoon drop from the rankings, while Kristen Wiig, Renee Zellweger and Cate Blanchett all just missed out on the $10million cut off point. So near yet so far…
