Heath Ledger's family attend Batman premiere
Heath Ledger’s family attended the world premiere of their late son’s last completed movie, The Dark Knight, in New York last night.
Kim Ledger and his wife Ines attended alongside Heath’s mother Sally and his older sister Kate. The family snuck into the theatre, missing the red carpet, which was packed with the film’s stars.
When approached by reporters following the movie, father Kim gave a thumbs up and stated the film was ‘very good.’
Outside of the theatre, and Ledger’s co-stars took the opportunity to pay tribute to the actor, who died of an accidental overdose in January this year.
Christian Bale, who reprises his role as Batman told reporters, ‘Working with Heath was fantastic. He steals the movie and I’m quite happy to say that. He’s a hell of a talent and created a joker that’s very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages.’
Michael Caine added, ‘His energy was astonishing, especially when it came from this kind of calm. He’s certainly the best villain I’ve ever seen.’
Ledger’s performance has already garnered rave reviews from critics, with rumours persisting that he could receive a posthumous Oscar.
