It was the role that catapulted Robert Pattinson into the limelight, but Twilight director Catherine Hardwick has revealed she almost didn’t cast Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Instead, we nearly had Red Riding Hood actor Shiloh Fernandez as the lead vamp.

In fact the role was almost signed and sealed, with Catherine only changing her mind at the last minute, after seeing the sizzling chemistry between Rob and leading lady Kristen Stewart.
‘I thought [Fernandez] could have been very good in that role, [but] he was beat out by Rob because Rob and Kristen just had that chemistry,’ Catherine revealed in a new interview.
‘I brought the four guys that I thought were the best and she had to make out with them or do four different scenes with them,’, she said, adding that Kristen had a final hand in choosing who it would be.

‘At the end of those two days she said, “It's gotta be Rob”,’ Catherine revealed of the actress’s decision.
Last week, the filmmaker spoke of how she gave R-Patz a stern talking to, after seeing the sparks fly between him and his new co-star.
‘You've got to realize that Kristen is 17 years old,' Catherine revealed she told Rob, who’s four years K-Stew’s senior.
'She's underage. You've got to focus, dude, or you're going to be arrested. I made him swear on a stack of Bibles.'
