Rupert Sanders has made a public statement apologising to his wife for having an affair with Kristen Stewart

First Kristen Stewart apologised for cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson, now the married director, Rupert Sanders, she had a fling with has released a public statement. 

The Snow White and the Huntsman filmmaker has issued a desperate sounding apology to his wife, Liberty Ross.

He said: 'I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.'

Earlier today, Kristen Stewart said: 'I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected.

'This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry.'

The news broke that Kristen, 22, and Sanders, 41, had been having an affair after Us Weekly published photos of the pair appearing to kiss. 

The British director is married to actress-model Liberty Ross, with whom he has two young children, while Kristen has been in a relationship with her Twilight costar Robert Pattinson, 26, for nearly four years.

Liberty appeared alongside Kristen as her mother in Snow White and the Huntsman.
