R-Patz has been pipped to the post by Broadway star Reeve Carney, according to reports
Twilight star Robert Pattinson has missed out on landing the lead in a new biopic of late singer Jeff Buckley. According to reports, R-Patz has been pipped to the post – and role – by a relative unknown, Broadway star Reeve Carney.
Earlier this year, Hollywood was abuzz with whispers movie execs were planning a new biopic of the late singer, with everyone from James Franco to Jared Leto and Andrew Garfield being tipped to land the lead.
But Rob soon emerged as reported frontrunner for the role, with insiders saying he was ‘obsessed’ with winning the musical part.
Now it seems poor R-Patz may have fallen at the final hurdle, after a statement from the late singer’s mother Mary Buckley and the movie’s executive producer was obtained by Hollywood Life.
‘We are over the moon that Reeve has agreed to take on this challenging role,’ the statement read.
‘He’s been getting ready for this all his life. It certainly doesn’t hurt that he looks so much like Jeff.’
Director Jake Scott added: ‘We are excited to have found in Reeve the perfect combination of musical prodigy, impish charm, innate intelligence and sensitivity to play Jeff.’
Reeve is currenly playing Spiderman in the controversial Broadway production, and has previously starred in several US TV series’.
