Is Meghan Markle going to Priyanka Chopra’s wedding?

Priyanka went to hers, after all.

It’s no secret that after growing up in California and working in Hollywood, former Suits actress Meghan Markle has a few famous names in her phone contacts. One of them happens to be one of our favourite gals over at Marie Claire HQ - Quantico’s Priyanka Chopra. When the avalanche of media attention came for her friend Meghan, Priyanka went above and beyond to defend her friend from sexist comments or disparaging rumours; making her somebody we definitely want in our corner. She was eventually invited to the royal wedding earlier this year and attended, slaying the game in an outfit we couldn’t believe. With her own wedding to singer Nick Jonas happening this weekend, the question remains: will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry be going?

Sadly, it doesn’t seem like they will be. Although the Palace hasn’t confirmed or denied it, a source claimed to Cosmopolitan that the royals wouldn’t be coming along. Before any rumours start brewing, we’ll just nip that in the bud - it’s not because there’s any bad blood between the pair. In fact, it’s down to the fact that Meghan’s little one is on the way.

The source said, ‘Meghan will not be going to Priyanka’s wedding. Especially now that she is pregnant.’

Gutting. We totally get it and it makes sense, but it’s still sad when one of your best pals can’t make it to one of the biggest events of your life. We bet Meghan will probably whip up a gorgeous heartfelt letter with those calligraphy skills of hers though and send along a wedding gift.

Even if Meghan and Priyanka understandably haven't been able to spend that much time together, in the past they've gushed about one another and Cosmopolitan claims that they featured together frequently on posts on Meghan's Instagram. (RIP.) Priyanka explained while on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that the pair became close while filming their respective TV shows in Toronto and Meghan had nothing but amazing things to say about her.

Meghan said previously to Press Trust of India (via E! News), 'Priyanka is unbelievable. She has become a really good friend...Turns out that she really likes Suits.'

She told E! News, 'You know when you meet someone and you just 'click'...it was just an easy, natural progression. We've managed to keep in touch via email and text, and try to see each other whenever we're both in the same town.'

The feeling was absolutely mutual as Priyanka Chopra said on The Jenny McCarthy show, 'She's always been someone who's so just aware and interested in the world. That's what we bonded on—was how much we feel like we contribute to that as public people.'

Priyanka also wasn't having it for a second when Wendy Williams made a sexist comment prior to the royal wedding, when Williams described Meghan Markle solely as Prince Harry's girlfriend. Given that Priyanka and Meghan both came up in Hollywood's cut throat industry together and she'd seen Meghan's work firsthand, Priyanka instantly flashed her claws to defend her friend.

Priyanka interrupted the host to declare, 'Also Meghan Markle, actress, Suits, her achievements.'

We stan a bad ass female friendship TBH.

Priyanka and Nick Jonas’ wedding will be taking place this weekend in India and that’s a long way for anybody to fly from the UK, regardless of being pregnant. However we think Priyanka and Nick will get over it as their wedding is set to be one of the biggest events in India’s calendar, given that Priyanka is one of the country’s biggest celebrities as she remains a major Bollywood superstar.

On top of that, Nick’s got his own big list of Hollywood pals including his fellow brothers and his future sister-in-law Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones.

In fact, Sophie even went along to Priyanka’s glam bachelorette party in pictures on Instagram. The hen do looked pretty massive with Chopra running round town in a massive feathered couture piece by designer Georges Chakra, stripey pyjamas and the inevitable hangover - complete with matching eye masks. Seriously though, we wished we looked nearly as good after a big night out.

NGL, we’re going to be stalking every moment of Priyanka and Nick’s wedding on Instagram. And even though Meghan Markle sadly doesn’t have an account anymore, we bet she’ll be quietly lurking on her friend’s Insta from afar - wishing her all the best from Blighty.
