It's just been discovered that a previously-recorded single, featuring Katie's vocals, has just been released in America - which could be against show rules.

The 24-year-old recorded duet Moving Mountains with US singer David Reed - under the pseudonym Lola Fontaine - as part of her former record deal with Chamberlain Records.

Show bosses reportedly forked out thousands of pounds to extract her from the contract, so that she could take part in the show - but but producers are now rushing to find out whether the unforeseen single release is breaking X Factor rules.

An X Factor source told the Mail Online this morning that they were 'looking into' whether the incident could effect Katie's place in the competition.

24-year-old Katie found herself in the bottom two for the fourth time this weekend, narrowly avoiding getting the boot at the expense of singer Aiden Grimshaw.
