John Mayer Confirms Katy Perry Split

John Mayer confirmed he has parted ways with Katy Perry, revealing: 'Coupling is a tricky thing'

John Mayer put an end to weeks of relationship rumours in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last night, confirming his split with songstress Katy Perry.

The singer, who has remained decidedly quiet on the subject until now, branded his romance with Katy Perry 'very private,' but did say the two have parted ways.

'It was a very private relationship going in. It was a private relationship during, and it's a private relationship still,' Mayer explained.

He continued: 'I can understand asking the question [about our split] based on some previous answers I have given, but I have finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other.

'I've been much happier since then. I'm on the same journey as everyone else. Coupling is a tricky thing. It's a tricky thing. I want everyone to be happy.'

Katy Perry, who was previously married to Russell Brand,and John Mayer, who has romanced Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpspon in the past, began dating in June 2012, before calling it quits, only to be reunited the following month.

So is this finally the end of the road for the pair?

Possibly not, according to friends.

Pals of Katy Perry and John Mayer say they wouldn't rule out the couple getting back together in the future.

'It’s more of a break than a break-up,' one source told Hollywoodlife.com. 'You’ll probably see them hanging out sooner then later and hooking up again.

‘They remain very friendly. She’s leaving the window open. They have both been so focused on work.'
