EXCLUSIVE! Jeremy Irvine talks to Marie Claire about the moment he met Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton (and her incredible fashion know-how) would leave most people a little speechless, but when she invited British actor Jeremy Irvine to Buckingham Palace for a drink with Prince William he, like most of us would, failed to play it cool.

At the Warhorse premiere, the royals walked the red carpet before mingling with the film’s lead Jeremy, and invited him back to the palace for a few celebratory drinks. As Jeremy promoted his latest film, Great Expectations he told us about this moment.

Jeremy said: ‘It was amazing, but I couldn’t appreciate it, I had five minutes when they asked, “Would you like to come back for a drink,” and I was like “What do I do?”’

Fortunately he pulled it together and took one special relative, ‘I just grabbed my grandma,’ he told us. ‘And now I can say “I got to take my grandma to Buckingham Palace for a drink.”

‘It’s so nice to be able to do stuff like that.’

And that’s not the only thing the 22-year-old is humble about, during our chat we spoke about Twilight and epic love stories such as Great Expectations, which prompted him to praise Robert Pattinson. When we tried to remind Jeremy what a good actor he was, he instantly looked embarrassed – and he’s no reason to be!
