Jennifer Lopez has said that she struggled to connect with her twins Max and Emme when they were first born in 2008.

The 42-year-old 'What To Expect When You're Expecting' star has revealed: 'I remember after the babies were born, about seven to 10 days in, I was like, 'What is going on with me?'

'I felt sad and depressed and thought the babies didn't love me,' the On the Floor singer has admitted.

J-Lo has been showing her more vulnerable side in an interview for Redbook magazine.

The singer, actress and American Idol judge has said that she was a huge fan of the pregnancy guide book by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel that 'What To Expect When You're Expecting' was based on.

'I actually remember picking up the book to try to see what was happening to me.

'It said how you have this huge hormonal drop about seven to 10 days after you give birth. It's called the 'baby blues.' But I just thought they didn't like me!'

In the film, Jennifer Lopez plays a character called Holly who adopts a baby from abroad.

The twins, now four, are from Lopez's marriage to singer Marc Anthony but the couple announced that they were divorcing in July 2011.

The star is now dating dancer Casper Smart.
