If you’ve got it, flaunt it. Standing at 6’3″, actress Gwendoline Christie loves wearing high heels. Taking a role in Game of Thrones — a show that she praises for its portrayal of female characters and having roles that defy beauty standards in general — she’s already liberated herself by way of her career choices.
When it comes to her fashion choices and wearing heels, Christie says she’ll never bend the knee.
'I hope it helps change people’s perceptions of what beauty is. I think my size, or the roles that I’ve been lucky enough to play, have helped people see a broader definition of femininity. It’s important that all kinds of people are represented onscreen,' the actress told PEOPLE.
We LOVE this pic of Christie towering over her Top of the Lake: China Girl co-stars.
It doesn’t hurt that she looks completely AWESOME as Brienne of Tarth either!
Despite wildling Tormund referring to her as a 'big woman' on screen, Christie loves wearing heels. And her height is 'not something she thinks too much about.'
Her stature never kept her from pursuing her dreams, either. After seeing Marilyn Monroe in Bus Stop, she knew acting was exactly what she wanted to do.
Between starring as our favourite knight on Game of Thrones and reprising her role as Captain Phasma in The Last Jedi later this year, Christie is one busy actress.
'I’m busy and I love it. I cannot say I have a regret,' she said.
It’s safe to say that through Christie’s liberation we’ll continue to find role models in the parts she chooses!
