It has been revealed that Glee star Chord Overstreet, who plays Sam Evans, will be returning to the show as a regular for the rest of the new series.
When we heard which Glee star would be returning to William McKinley High School, we were ecstatic.
We’re pretty big Gleeks here at Marie Claire and have missed Chord Overstreet, who plays Sam, in the first few episodes of the new series. But it has been revealed his first appearance is earmarked for the eighth episode of the new season and then appearing on a regular basis.
The actor who starred in series two of the hit musical comedy, initially chose not to return for the third run after not being made a regular.
Even though Chord toured with the cast for the Glee UK tour producers decided to only offer him appearances in a few episodes.
When the actor made his decision to walk away from the show, he said, ‘They offered me the chance to come back for a few episodes, but there was nothing guaranteed so I decided to dive into the music thing.’
Trying to keep fans happy, Glee producers quickly bumped him up to a regular slot. A source told TVLine.com, ‘We missed Chord and Chord missed us. It’s a win-win.’
How Chord will return is yet to be announced – the character Sam moved away after his dad got a job in a new city in the last series. His storyline may be uncertain but we’re hoping Sam and Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron) will hook up again – they made the cutest duet in the Glee club.
The question now is what creator Ryan Murphy and co. will do with Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer, all of whom are seniors on the show this year ready to leave for college – we don’t think we’re ready to say goodbye!
Glee is currently airing new, series three, episodes on Thursdays at 9pm on Sky1.
