Florence Welch has had her first number one single with Spectrum (Say My Name) beating off last week's number one from Maroon 5.

Florence Welch may have been upset when she cancelled festival appearances after injuring her voice, but her first ever number one in the UK singles chart will likely cheer her up.

Spectrum (Say My Name) helped her band Florence and the Machine push Maroon 5's Payphone off the top of the charts to number two, likely leading to some partying for the eccentric star last night.

FLORENCE DENIES SHE IS PART OF THE ILLUMINATI

It is the group's highest charting position since their euphoric cover of You've Got The Love made it to number five in 2009. Cheryl Cole's best friend and manager Will.I.Am is still in the top five at number three.

Last week, Florence Welch was left terrified after she felt 'something snap' in her throat causing her to cancel gigs in Spain and Portugal.

FLORENCE WELCH CANCELS FESTIVAL APPEARANCES

The Marie Claire favourite Florence said: 'I've sustained a vocal injury and been told I cannot sing for a week - seriously I felt something snap, it was very frightening.

'I'm so sorry to all the fans, I was desperate to still perform, but was told without question not to, so as not to do permanent damage.'

We're sure the good news will perk you up Florence!
