Australian actress Emily Browning has been hard at work in her darkest role yet, playing a rarified sex-worker in a dark remake of the classic Sleeping Beauty story.

Standing in her underwear, her porcelain doll-like skin exposed, Emily Browning channels the vulnerability of her Sleeping Beauty character and the eeriness of the shocking remake.

She plays Lucy, a young woman working as a prostitute in a sinister world, a role that involved her stripping off for several nude scenes with disturbing undertones.

Admitting that she needed a stiff drink to first watch the movie, Emily told Movieline: 'It was the most nerve-racking experience. They gave me a copy, and I watched it in bed with a bottle of vodka by myself because I was so nervous.'
