The race to the Oscars is on, as awards season was declared open this weekend at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Rosamund Pike, who gave birth to her second son only a month ago, also attended, wearing an Alexander McQueen trapeze dress as she collected Best Breakthrough Actress for her role as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl.
Benedict Cumberbatch meanwhile came with his new fiancé, theatre director Sophie Hunter, as he accepted the award for Best Ensemble Cast with his The Imitation Game co-stars.
