David Beckham: We Want Our Children To Lead A Normal Life

David and Victoria Beckham want their children to have as normal a life as possible, the sports star revealed in a new interview

With a famous footballer and Spice star-turned fashion designer for parents, David and Victoria Beckham's jetsetting brood were never going to have a traditional childhood.

But now David Beckham has revealed that he and Victoria Beckham try to give their children as normal a life as possible, despite their worldwide fame.

Opening up in a new interview, Becks admitted there are times he has had to hold their children - in particular eldest son, 13-year-old Brooklyn - back.

But the sports star added that 99 per cent of the time, they make sure the kids lead a normal life.

'My eldest now is at the age where he wants to do things and he wants to go places and you have to hold him back, or we have to hold him back,' Beckham said in an interview with CNN.

'You have to explain it to him that there are certain things that he can't do.

'But to be honest, with our children, we let them do 99 per cent of the things they want to do because we want them to lead a normal life.'

After moving his family back to Britain and signing a contract with football club Paris St Germain, David Beckham also spoke of having to spend time away from his family.

'When you speak about the sacrifices, that's obviously the sacrifice that I have to make as a father and as a husband, being away from my family.

It's only for a short time but it’s difficult being away from the children every single day. But they understand it, they understand that Daddy works hard.'
