Is Dannii Minogue set to call time on The X Factor?
Dannii Minogue could be considering quitting The X Factor – and it’s no surprise considering the truckload of negative press she had to endure last year.
The Aussie star is yet to sign her contract for her third series, even though the first round of auditions started two weeks ago.
It is reported the 37-year-old is feeling unsure whether she wants to continue with her role as a judge on the show after feeling bullied by Sharon Osbourne in 2007 and receiving negative comparisons to her replacement, Cheryl Cole, in 2008.
A source told The Sun: ‘It was tough for Dannii last year and she got a lot of negative press. A person can only take so much before asking, “Is it really worth it?”
‘Dannii felt bullied by Sharon during her first series and that was tough, so she was looking forward to Cheryl joining the team last year.
‘But that became a nightmare, too, when the rumour mill went into overdrive with stories about the two of them competing against each other for Simon Cowell’s attention.
‘Simon is being patient so far, but she can’t leave it too much longer.’
Thousands of pop star wannabes hit London’s 02 yesterday for auditions hosted by the show’s presenter Dermot O’Leary.
Hopefuls have to pass several stages before going in front of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole – and possibly Dannii.
The star is expected to deliver her decision to X Factor producer Richard Holloway next week ahead of the first set of auditions in front of the celebrity judges on 8 June.
