Girls is down a man. Christopher Abbott, who plays Marnie’s boyfriend Charlie in the hit TV show, has quit after apparently butting heads with Lena Dunham.

The oh-so-handsome actor has had enough of his star-making role as long-suffering Charlie Dattolo and has abruptly quit the hit show after clashing with creator Lena Dunham, according to reports.

‘They’ve just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena,’ a source told New York Post’s Page Six.

‘He didn’t like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map.’

The 27-year-olds rep also confirmed his departure, saying: ‘[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show.’

The news will come as a shock to many Girls fans as his character Charlie reunited with Marnie in the finale of the second series.
