Prince Charles took the opportunity to praise Cheryl Cole for her charity work yesterday, as he hosted the Celebrate Success Awards in London.
The Girl Aloud has started her own charity, The Cheryl Cole Foundation, in association with the Prince's Trust, to help troubled young people in her native North East England.
On her initiative, the Prince commented: 'She has used the Prince's Trust to put into effect what she is doing in the North East to help turn people's lives around.'
The glittering occasion marked the finale of a competition, recognising those that had been helped through adversity by the Prince's Trust, and are now thriving.
In her role as Trust ambassador, Cheryl arrived at the Odeon Leicester Square and presented an award on stage, telling the audience: 'Coming from my background and growing up where I did, I'm fully aware of the circumstances of these disadvantaged young people and it's an absolute privilege to be here tonight to see such stories and be part of such an amazing evening.'
