It looks as though Carey Mulligan may have a new man in her life - Brit actor Eddie Redmayne.

Having split with her Wall Street co-star Shia LaBeouf back in October, the actress looks to have swapped her American boy for a British beau.

Carey and Eddie were seen looking decidedly cosy out and about in New York over the weekend, and snapped walking together hand-in-hand - sparking the inevitable romance rumours.

The pair met back in 2009 when they presented an award together at the BAFTAs.

But while Eddie has perhaps yet to become a household name, the 29-year-old actor is no stranger to a leading lady...

He's previously starred alongside Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson in The Other Boleyn Girl, Gemma Arterton in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and shared a steamy scene with Kristen Stewart in The Yellow Handkerchief.
