Usually private starlet Angelina Jolie has opened up on the 'darker times' in her life an interview with American news show 60 Minutes, revealing she feels lucky she 'didn’t die young'.

Speaking to the US CBS show while on location in Budapest, the actress alluded to a wild past, but said that is all behind her now she is happily settled with Brad Pitt.

‘I went through heavy, darker times and I survived them,’ she revealed in the interview, set to air this week.

‘I didn't die young, so I'm very lucky. There are other artists and people who didn't survive certain things.’

Although she declined to elaborate on exactly what she was referring to, Angelina Jolie added: ‘I think people can imagine that I did the most dangerous and I did the worst, and for many reasons I shouldn't be here.

‘You think of those too many times where you came close to too many dangerous things, too many chances taken too far.’

For now, the actress, who is currently working on her directing debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, says her wild side stays firmly at home.

‘I'm still a bad girl. I still have that side of me,’ she added. ‘It's just in its place now. ... It belongs to Brad.’
