Alexandra Burke's Hallelujah is fastest selling download ever
The first single from X Factor winner Alexandra Burke is making tracks to be the fastest selling record ever. Over 105,000 copies of the 20-year-old star's version of Leonard Cohen's classic song Hallelujah were downloaded on Sunday, beating the last record of 82,000 in one day set by another X Factor winner, Leona Lewis, with her debut track A Moment Like This.
Former waitress Alexandra won the X Factor final on Saturday night in front of a TV audience of over 14 million.
The star released her single online at the stroke of midnight on Sunday 14 December – and fans feverishly downloaded it, almost certainly guaranteeing it making a place at the Christmas no.1 spot.
Even top pop group Girls Aloud's no.1 track The Promise only got 7,600 downloads in one day, but Alex's mentor – and Girl Aloud – Cheryl Cole, is sure to be nothing but proud of her.
