Eminem swept the board with an amazing 10 nominations, while Bruno Mars netted seven, and Lady Gaga six
Eminem and Bruno Mars will be the leading contenders at February’s Grammy awards, with a total of seventeen nominations between them. The US rapper tops the list with a whopping 10 nods – which include album and record of the year – while hotshot Mr Mars is close behind which a respectable seven.
The awards were announced in LA yesterday, during a glittering one-hour show, featuring performances from previous winners, as well some of this year’s nominees.
Other possible big winners at the prestigious US music ceremony include Lady Gaga – with a haul of six – Jay-Z, and American country group Lady Antebellum.
But it’s not just about US talent. There were plenty of artists flying the flag for the Brits in the long nominees list.
Folk band Mumford and Sons garnered nods in two categories, while fiery-haired Florence Welch will compete with the cheeky strummers – and Justin Beiber! – for the Best Newcomer gong.
And that’s not all. Scottish singer Susan Boyle is also up for an award, and will take on newly-married songstress in the pop vocal album category.
