Brigitte Bardot slams Sarah Palin as 'disgrace to women'

Legendary French actress Brigitte Bardot has made no bones about her opinion of vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, calling her a 'disgrace to women'.

The most glamorous woman in 1960's French cinema said John McCain's running mate was 'disconcertingly stupid' and that she hoped she will fall flat in America's 4 November presidential elections.

And the sixties sexpot, who runs an animal rights foundation - didn't stop there. Bardot referred to Palin's self-portrait as a 'pitbull in lipstick' by saying: 'I know dogs well and I can assure you that no pitbull, no dog, nor any other animal is as dangerous as you are.'

Bardot continued the tirade saying: 'I hope you lose these elections because that would be a victory for the world.'

She added: 'By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe.'

The 74-year-old film star focused on Palin's support for Arctic oil exploration that could endanger ecosystems and for ignoring measures to protect polar bears.

Bardot is infamous in France for her outspoken views on immigration, the environment and animal rights. The actress was fined £15,000 earlier this year for inciting racial hatred when she wrote that she had 'had enough' of Muslims ruining France.
