Looking for Spanish or Moroccan night out? El Cantara can transport you to the heart of Andalucia or to deepest Marrakech

I was looking forward to trying out this new addition to Soho's already vast choice of wonderful restaurants and El Cantara didn't disappoint.

The ground floor is like a traditional Spanish taverna while the first floor is an exotic Bedoin retreat. Opening on to this room is a private terrace perfect for drinking cocktails or smoking shisha.

We were welcomed by a lovely smiley waitress who knew the menu inside out and was happy to recommend when we were unable to choose between Spanish style fish cakes served with garlic mayonnaise or chicken breast sauteed with olive oil, garlic, chilli and parlsey. We choose the latter - and it was every bit as delicious as it sounds.

The food is a mixture of Spanish tapas and paella's through to classic Moroccan dishes, we tried a mix of both. The tapas was delicately flavoured and perfectly cooked (the chargrilled chiken wings with ginger and lemon marinade were to die for!).

For our main course, we went for an assortment of seafood served with rice, tomato salsa and yoghurt dip which had us reminising about holidays and wanting to plan more. We managed to fit in a Crema Catalana each which was the perfect end to a really lovely evening.

If you're looking for a Spanish -meets- Moroccan experience then El Cantara can transport you to the heart of Andalucia...or Marrakech - enjoy!
