New Year's resolutions. While a lot of people write lengthy lists of goals, promises and aspirations for the year ahead, there are equally as many people on the 'New Year Same Me' train. Regardless of which category you fall into, the fact of the matter is that 2019 is a clean slate - a chance to shake things up and think about what you want to achieve in the next twelve months (whether you actually make changes or not).

The most popular promises tend to revolve around getting fit, quitting vices and picking up hobbies. Others commit to one of the January challenges (hello, Dry Jan and Veganuary). But one thing we all talk about is saving some money. If only there was a way to put some cash aside each week so that by the end of the year, you've got a nice lump sum to spend on whatever you please! If only!

Well, the good news is that there is. Enter the latest money saving challenge.

Before you laugh it off or tell yourself it's not possible, we're here to tell you that it's incredibly easy and you won't even notice that you're saving a penny. But you will be saving many pennies - in fact, it could see you £1500 better off by the start of 2020.

The hack is going viral for good reason. Created by Apartment Therapy, the trick is to put away a small amount on a daily basis. It works like this: on Sundays, put away £1. On Mondays, add £2 into the pot, and Tuesdays save £3, and so on. By Saturday, you'll have saved £28, and when you get back around to Sunday you start again. By the end of the year, you'll have around £1496 in the bank without even trying.
