Worst Dressed Grammys Style
Wow, there were some howlers on the Grammys 2009 red carpet. See who got it wrong, wrong, wrong on America's biggest music night

Paula Abdul

Good to see Paula's got a sense of humour. (Oh, sorry, she was being serious when she put that on, our mistake.)
Sheryl Crow - gallery
Sheryl Crow
Asymmetric gowns might be the big trend hit of this year's awards season, but that doesn't mean everyone should wear them. Sheryl Crow looked completely swamped by her Maticevski design at this year's Grammys. Rip off the train and pin the bodice and you might have something to work with.

Rotten to the core: Shiny tights and a purse shaped like an apple won't distract from the fact, Robyn, that we're in serious danger of being flashed your knickers.
Nikki Cox - gallery
Nikki Cox
Eek, shall we play guess the amount of plastic surgery Nikki's had? Perhaps not, let's just marvel at her boob-flashing, thigh-slashed, lingerie-inspired purple nightmare.

Miley Cyrus - gallery
Miley Cyrus
Opting for a more age-appropriate look than her Grammy night style (black, floor-length gown), Miley Cyrus went short in this strapless dress with painted floral detailing. It's the large satin bum bustle that's the nail in the coffin though - the worst addition to a mini dress, ever.
Paris Hilton - gallery
Paris Hilton
We hate to sound like your mum, Paris, but where's the bottom half of your outfit? The infamous blonde pitched up at this year's Grammys wearing what would pass for the top half of a pyjama set, albeit one fashioned from shiny swimsuit fabric.
Kimberly Caldwell - gallery
Kimberly Caldwell
''Who?' you say. She was a contestant on the second season of American Idol and with her singing career firmly down the pan, Caldwell is now an entertainment correspondent. Surely then, she should know a thing or two about style dos and don'ts? Not true, as proved with this cheap and tacky-looking metallic bandage dress. The slashed-to-the-navel, misshapen top half ruins any shape Kimberly has hiding beneath.
Leona Lewis - gallery
Leona Lewis
It was Leona Lewis's first Grammy Awards, so you could forgive her for being a little nervous, we can't, however, forgive that dress. Channelling what's becoming a slightly tired 'my stylist thinks I should dress like Beyoncé' vibe, Leona failed to note that Mrs Jay-Z always, but always, wears well-fitting underwear and would never, ever match pink nails with a gold dress.
Katy Perry - gallery
Katy Perry
Did Katy Perry get swallowed by a marshmallow on her way to the Grammys? The I Kissed A Girl... star may have been channelling '40s Hollywood icon in her perky pink Basil Soda gown, but came off looking more bubblegum teen instead.
Janelle Monae - gallery
Janelle Monae
Note to Janelle, the Grammy Awards does not equal fancy dress night. The U.S singer looked laughable when she hit the red carpet, dressed head-to-toe in fancy riding gear. We're all for a splash of equestrian style, but not all over - rewind a century love, and position yourself near a horse.
Carrie Underwood - gallery
Carrie Underwood
Three outfits across the Grammys weekend and Carrie Underwood only delivered with one and this putrid green number was not it. The country and western singer donned this chiffon mini dress with centre corsage and moss-like embellished net sleeves, and frankly, we have not one positive word to say about it. Ditch. The. Stylist.
Lisa Rinna - gallery
Lisa Rinna
You might be looking good for your age, but that doesn't forgive a thigh-slashing slit that leaves quite so little to the imagination. The Melrose Place actress chose a tacky asymmetric, cut-out gown that simply made us wince.

The hip hop star looks like she's trying out for a part in Starship Enterprise: The Hip-Hop Edition.
Jordin Sparks - gallery
Jordin Sparks
Grammy nominee Jordin Sparks seemed to have watched too many re-runs of The Sound of Music and pitched up at this year's awards bash wearing a dress that resembled her mother's sitting room curtains. Not one of our favourite things.
M.I.A. - gallery
M.I.A
Now we don't agree with pregnant mum-bashing one bit but why not embrace your womanly shape with a tighter-fitting frock, rather than donning a mini tent, as M.I.A did at this pre-Grammy gathering. It's her strategically-placed hand on bump that is the only giveaway to show she's actually expecting. Hats off for a top performance though - on your due date!
Cyndi Lauper - gallery
Cyndi Lauper
Yes, hi Cyndi, we see you. How could we miss you with that sky-high platinum blond quiff, lacey tights and mini dress? Wrong on so many levels.

Carrie Underwood
It's lucky for Carrie Underwood that she had three stabs at red carpet dressing over the Grammys weekend. Night one, and she wore this bizarre polka dot number, teamed with bouffed hair and lots of leg; not a good look. Luckily she redeemed herself on the big night, and was one of the Grammys' best dressed starlets.
