We didn't see this coming...

Meghan Markle is one of the most talked about people in the world, something that has both its advantages and disadvantages.

Sure, she has the power to turn independent brands into world-renowned labels by just wearing their clothes (hello Meghan Markle effect), and she gets to live in a castle and travel the globe meeting world leaders.

But she also makes viral news through every action, becoming a hot conversation topic this week for a very strange reason.

That’s right. It wasn’t Meghan’s feminist speeches or future arrival with Prince Harry that got the world talking. Instead the 37-year-old made news for her unexpected take on swearing.

According to an old post on her now defunct blog, The Tig, the Duchess of Sussex thinks swearing ‘adds character’.

‘These make my New Year's resolution list nearly (aka actually every) single year,’ Meghan posted, going on to list running a marathon and re-learning French. But also joining them on the list every year were biting her nails and swearing, which Meghan described as 'unladylike habits'.

‘The marathon hasn’t happened. The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple drinks,' she explained, going on to admit that she even still bites her nails from time to time.

But it doesn’t seem to worry Meghan, who made a point of saying, ‘My nails will be fine, and if I toss out a four letter word once in a blue moon, well frankly I think it adds character.’

Well that’s that - and to be honestly, we like Meghan even more for it!
