If you haven’t seen the original Deadpool film, you need to stop whatever you’re doing and watch it. NOW. A hilarious superhero parody with Ryan Reynolds in the main role as the smart-talking vigilante, it’s no wonder that the film has won so many hardcore fans.
Now it’s been confirmed that Deadpool 2 is in the pipeline, there’s one big question mark over who is going to direct it after the original film’s director, Tim Miller, decided to exit from the sequel citing ‘creative differences’ with Ryan Reynolds.
While no one has been confirmed yet, fans have started campaigning for one big name in particular to take the reins: Quentin Tarantino.
Starting an online petition to get the king of violence in the driving seat, Carl Champion Jr. wrote:
‘If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for 'The Merc with the Mouth'! It would be so glorious. Join me!’
And fans did. So far the petition has garnered over 6700 signatures – just 700 short of the necessary 7500 in order to be sent on to Ryan Reynolds – so it won’t be long until the target is hit. We would love to hear Ryan’s reaction to it…

While the search for a new director continues, Ryan and the other producers are currently searching to cast the sequel’s female lead – the Marvel mutant Domino.
According to recent reports, Lizzy Caplan, Sienna Miller, Ruby Rose and Sofia Boutella have all auditioned for the role, so watch this space.
Speaking to NME, producer Simon Kinberg recently said: ‘I think Deadpool 2 will comment on anything that’s happening in movies today especially in superhero movies. The sort of glut or saturation of these movies and the proliferation of sequels is definitely something we’ll play around with.’
Sounds epic.
