Our annual best of beauty awards are back

The Marie Claire Prix D'Excellence Beauty Awards are some of the most prestigious awards in the beauty industry. And this year we are celebrating our 35th year of judging the absolute best products from around the world.

What exactly are the Marie Claire Prix D'Excellence Beauty Awards?

A panel of beauty experts and beauty directors from across the globe trial and test products that launched during the past 12 months. The products are judged on everything from the science, the formulas, the packaging and, most importantly, the efficacy. The winners must be products that can be recommended to readers in good conscious. Past years have seen us find some of the industry's most iconic products.

Who are the judges?

The international judges are made up of 23 beauty experts and editors from countries spanning the US, Europe, China and Australia.

The British judges this year were some of the industry's most-trusted beauty experts.

Alessandra Steinherr - @alexsteinherr

Alessandra Steinherr is an award winning London-based Beauty Journalist. She was the Beauty Director of Glamour magazine for over ten years before launching her own Beauty Consultancy business. In her new role, she has helmed successful brand partnerships and led innovative product range development for a large European retailer. Her knowledge, expertise and signature no-nonsense approach to beauty and style have earned her a loyal following over the years.

Alice Hart-Davis - @alicehartdavis

Alice Hart-Davis is a beauty journalist and founder of www.thetweakmentsguide.com. She is on a mission to open up the conversation around tweakments and demystify the worlds of skincare and cosmetic procedures. Her latest book is The Tweakments Guide: Start with Skincare.

Ateh Jewel - @atehjewel

Dr Ateh Jewel is a multi award-winning journalist, producer, director, influencer and diversity advocate. She been in the industry for 19 years, specialising in beauty, social commentary and campaigning for more diversity in the beauty industry. Ateh is on the advisory board for the British Beauty Council and also appears on panels, consulting, lecturing and judging for CEW, Creative Head, Stylist Live, P&G, Unilever and Coty.

Katie Thomas - @katie_thomas_hayne

Katie Thomas is Marie Claire UK’s Senior Beauty Editor. She has 10 years of experience on women’s luxury lifestyle titles, having previously sat on the fashion and beauty desks at InStyle UK and Tatler. She joined the Marie Claire UK team in 2018, and since then has spearheaded the beauty content across the site. She’s made it her own personal mission to find the best concealer in the world to cover her tenacious dark circles. She’s obsessed with skincare that makes her skin bouncy and glowy, low-maintenance hair that doesn’t require brushing and a cracking good manicure.

Lisa Oxenham - @lisaoxenham

Lisa Oxenham is Marie Claire UK's Beauty & Style Director. A well-respected stylist and art director, she shoots with the highest calibre of photographers, make-up artists, hair stylists, influencers and celebrities, creating timeless images and film. With 20 years of editorial experience in beauty, health and wellbeing Lisa is also a popular brand strategist, influencer, entrepreneur and public speaker, most recently talking for Cognition X.

Sali Hughes - @salihughes

Sali Hughes started out as an assistant make-up artist, touching up The Pet Shop Boys, Belinda Carlisle, George Michael and many others. A move into journalism led to editorship of ELLEgirl and a stint as Features Director on style bible The Face. In January 2011, she became The Guardian Weekend’s beauty columnist, quickly cultivating a large and loyal following. She is author of Pretty Honest: Pretty Iconic and she is also co-founder of Beauty Banks.

When is the awards ceremony?

The awards ceremony is taking place next Wednesday 19th May at 4.30pm. And you can join us for this prestigious affair.
