The Best Places To Go For A Pre-Party Blow Dry

Christmas parties, after-work drinks, and wild nights out, with party season in full swing we guarantee you don’t have time to fuss over your hair. We’ve rounded up the best places to get an affordable, speedy and super-amazing blow dry that will have you party-perfect in an instant. Party on.

In our book, Hersheson’s are pretty much single-handedly responsible for introducing the UK to the blow dry bar. While they’re on almost every corner in places like Manhattan they’re a relatively new breed of salon to us Brits. Hersheson’s blow-dry bar in the basement of Topshop’s flagship store on Oxford Circus in London sets the standard but you can now find locations in London’s Selfridges and One New Change in St Pauls. Chose from 12 styles, including Wavy Gravy, or the Classic (what it says on the tin) to something a little more retro like the B52 which takes the beehive to a whole new level. For £25 you’ll be in and out in 30-minutes (unless you have very thick hair). What’s not to love?

Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar Electric Hair Lounge, Liverpool

Situated in Liverpool’s chic Liverpool One district (if you’re not a Liverpool One regular think high end shops and eateries). The Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar is made up of three glorious floors of beauty including the shopping hall on the ground. Up a floor and you’ll find the WOW cocktail bar, Nails Inc nail bar and the Electric Hair Lounge. Pop in for your tan, nails, brows, make-up and get your hair ‘did’ at Electric where a blow-dry costs from £30. If you want to get your night off the best possible start treat yourself to the Champagne Blow-Dry, £45, which includes a head massage, hair mask and blow dry plus a glass of bubbly.

Headmasters, South of England
Headmasters salons are dotted across the south of England and can be found everywhere from London to Bromley to Tunbridge Wells and Guildford. Their Christmas Blow Dry, from £28, begins with GHD Heat Protect Spray to prolong your style and protect your hair, followed by the bounciest of party blow dries using the new GHD Aura hairdryer and a ceramic vented radial brush to really give your hair some volume. It’s a pre-party must.

Toni & Guy, Edinburgh

Blow Ltd, London’s Covent Garden
Their tag line, ‘Fast Beauty’, pretty much sums this place up. Pop into their Covent Garden location and for £25 for 30-minutes take your pick of a carefully edited selection of styles. Opt for the Luxe Blow (a glossy and voluminous ‘do’ with a slight wave), or the Beach Blow (tousled waves), or the Blow N’ Braid (where you can chose from a fishtail, halo or waterfall braid) or even an Undone Bun. If you’re pushed for time you can try the Fast Blow, £20 for 20-minutes which will give you polished, bouncy and expensive-looking hair in next to no time at all. You can get your nails and make-up done at the same time so it really is a one-stop-shop for party prep.
