EXCLUSIVE: Les Miserables star Amanda Seyfried reveals that her first experience of unrequited love was at 11 when she fell for Leonardo DiCaprio

Amanda Seyfried may be a Hollywood star, but she proved she was just like the rest of us after admitting she harbored her very own schoolgirl crush on Leonardo DiCaprio.

The revelation came as the actress spoke to Marie Claire online about the hotly anticipated movie adaptation of Les Miserables. Amanda plays Cosette, who is unknowingly part of a love triangle leaving Eponine (Samantha Barks) heartbroken when Marius (Eddie Redmayne) chooses to be with Cosette.

The plot stirred up old memories of unrequited love Amanda had when she was younger and told us: ‘It [Les Miserables] is super inspiring for an 11-year-old who is in love with Leonardo DiCaprio. I understood unrequited love.’

And it was this very feeling that encouraged her to snap up a role in the film version, with Amanda adding: ‘That’s the thing that resonated with me – not the historical fiction aspect of is not Valjean (Hugh Jackman) it was Eponine falling in love with somebody and being in love with them so much she’s able to let them go.’

And it appears an 11-year-old Amanda was also able to let Leonardo go, although he’s reportedly single now. We wonder it he’ll reciprocate her feelings 16 years on...
