Fifty Shades Sequel Won’t Be Directed By Sam Taylor-Johnson

The director is hanging up her whip and moving on to pastures new

There’s long been a question mark over whether Sam Taylor-Johnson would direct the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels, and now she’s formally given her answer: she will not be returning to the red room of pain.

Taylor-Johnson told Deadline: ‘Directing Fifty Shades Of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota and Jamie. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three.’

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are already signed on for a second and third movie, so fret not, this franchise is going nowhere. And if you can’t wait for the sequels, we hear the DVD extras are pretty amazing…
