Probably even cooler than Big Little Lies

There’s no stopping Reese Witherspoon. The Oscar-winning actress is currently producing and starring in the hit Big Little Lies (we’re hooked), and is still running her lifestyle and fashion brand Draper James.

Now the entrepreneur is adding beauty to her CV, as she has just become Elizabeth Arden’s Storyteller-in-Chief.

Her new role will see her ‘shape the brand’s narrative, through its advertising campaigns and marketing programs, with a strong focus on Elizabeth Arden’s digital strategy and engagement,’ according to a press release from the brand.

Not only will she have creative control, but she will star in the campaigns too.

If you ask us, this is the perfect fit, considering Reese and Elizabeth Arden’s shared feminist ethos.

And according to Reese, that’s precisely why she said yes, ‘One of the first things that drew me to the brand was its rich heritage and history of supporting women. As one of the first female entrepreneurs, Elizabeth Arden paved the way for women like me. It’s an honor to carry on her legacy and be part of such an iconic company that is committed to serving women.’

We can definitely expect some empowering campaigns, if Reese’s comments are anything to go by: ‘I’m excited to work as a creative partner alongside the Elizabeth Arden team, producing content that celebrates the spirit of the brand, highlighting female-centric stories that illustrate women’s true life experiences which unite us all.’

We won’t have to wait too long to find out either, as the first beauty visual will come out in May. Watch this space.

Penny Goldstone

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
