Selfridges To Celebrate The Masters Of Fashion With This ENORMOUS Tribute

Breaking News: Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Rick Owens and more will be honoured at Selfridges...

Selfridges has announced its major AW14 fashion project ‘The Masters’, a tribute to some of the most successful fashion designers on the planet.

Delving into the worlds of creative pioneers from Marc Jacobs to Jean Paul Gaultier, each of the honoured designers has been declared The Master of their unique aesthetic by the iconic department store. Azzedine Alaïa is named The Master of Architecture and Oscar de la Renta The Master of Elegance, while Jacobs and Gaultier own Mood and Expression respectively.

Each designer will take over one of the mega-store's Oxford Street windows, as well as create their own limited edition ‘Masterpiece’, capturing their signature style in an exclusive product to be sold inside.

SHOWstudio and Vertu have also teamed up to take us inside each Master's world, with an exclusive fashion film to be screened at Selfridges’ pop-up Everyman cinema throughout the season.

‘Champions of their craft and true fashion icons, our forthcoming campaign celebrates 12 of fashion’s most accomplished designers,’ said the iconic department store. ‘From exclusive archival pieces to bespoke fashion films, get ready to discover our tribute to fashion’s most successful.’

Master of the Elements, Rick Owens, is also celebrating 20 years in the business by creating a special 20 piece capsule collection for the store, featuring women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories. ‘The World of Rick Owens’ will take over four Selfridges windows and will even see a 25ft statue of the man himself erected on the shop’s iconic Oxford Street canopy. Yes, that does say 25ft. Now that's what we call an honour.

The Masters at Selfridges launches 31st August.
