Penelope Cruz is Cannes' belle of the ball
You'd have never known that a bout of food poisoning almost scuppered Penelope Cruz's Cannes plans – the starlet was positively glowing at the French Film Festival last night.
In a dramatic lilac chiffon Marchesa autumn/winter '09 plunging gown, the actress stepped out for the premiere of her new movie, Broken Embraces, and stole the show with her signature high-octane glamour.
Allowing her stunning gown to take centre stage, Cruz kept the bling to a minimum, with nothing but a pair of drop earrings, and her hair scraped back, to cascade down her back.
Despite her illness earlier this week, the actress has lit up Cannes' many red carpets.
At a photocall for the film earlier in the day, she picked up on one of the season's key trends – nude hues – and wore a form-fitting bandeau dress. Matching peep-toes and an elegant up 'do completed yet another stylish ensemble.
