They’re so stylish

So we’ve all heard of the Kate Middleton effect, aka when the Duchess wears a dress or shoes like those £45 wedges and causes websites to crash and products to sell out in a matter of hours.

Well it looks like the Meghan Markle effect is now a thing too. Yep, it looks like Prince Harry’s girlfriend is ready to take Kate’s fashion influencer crown.

One item in particular people are keen to buy are her shoes, specifically those by New York designer Sarah Flint.

Her designs include paired back heels and flats, as well as jazzier jewel-encrusted and leopard print numbers.

The designer told HELLO! says although Meghan wore her footwear way before she met Prince Harry, there has now been an ‘Increase in sales definitely and of course we track our click throughs and stuff on websites. So a lot of increased website traffic in general’.

One of the shoes selling out is the ‘Great’ sandal, a simple tan number that the Suits actress wore at a festival in Austin recently.

Sarah said, ‘We sold out of a lot of the sizes of the brown 'Grear.' We just placed a reorder luckily, so we're getting it back in.’

Don’t worry though, you can still buy them here in the UK via Farfetch.

And in case you were in any doubt of how lovely Meghan is, Sarah said that the actress always writes thank you notes for her shoes. Handwritten no less.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
