The handbag Meghan Markle wore in 2018 that we just can't get over

Let's be honest, when Meghan Markle joined the royal family, she changed the sartorial game a little. Of course, Kate Middleton always looks impeccable, but the new Duchess of Sussex has broken the rules a little with her wardrobe (which is worth quite a lot it turns out).

They say the devil's in the detail, and the former Suits actress's accessories are certainly always on point, including her handbags, which incidentally totalled around £40,000 in 2018, apparently.

The Daily Mail kept track of all her arm candy she was spotted wearing at official engagements over the year, which included 38 handbags.

There was the Fendi Peekaboo bag she wore to visit the president in Dublin, the Altuzarra black Ghianda Saddle bag she wore to Wimbledon, and the Givenchy clutch bag she wore to see the Royal Academy of Arts' new exhibition in September.

But our favourite one has to be the cute Victoria Beckham bag she wore to attend the royal family's annual Christmas Day service. Meghan is rumoured to be friends with VB, so this is a nice way for her to support her designs, a bit like she did with Serena Williams' clothes.

This last one was from her pre-fall 2018 collection and was shaped like a powder box, includes a little mirror inside and is priced at £1,550. Pretty and practical.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
